Kevin Denley

Creative Author & Illustrator

Kevin Denley is the author and illustrator of I Hope They Are Friendly and I Hope They Are Friendly Too. Kevin's artistic journey began at art school, where he studied fine art and art education. Growing up in the Canal Zone, Republic of Panama, he enjoyed both writing and drawing from a young age.
The initial spark for I Hope They Are Friendly ignited back in 2001. Kevin was sketching layouts and doodling character designs when Monsters, Inc. was released. The film's monsters bore such a striking resemblance to his own creations that he became discouraged and put the project on hold.
However, in October 2024, Kevin rediscovered the story's potential. Over two months, he poured his energy into drawing, with a bit of rewriting along the way, finally bringing I Hope They Are Friendly to life. So inspired was he, that even before the first book was published, he had already completed I Hope They Are Friendly Too
Kevin's projects focus on igniting the creative spark in children through captivating stories and illustrations that transport them to magical worlds of wonder and excitement.
